33RD ANNUAL TIANGUIS

of Tourism Rodolfo Elizondo Torres, along with the
Governor of the State of Guerrero,
ZeferinoTorreblanca
Galindo and Oscar Fitch, CEO of the Mexico Tourism Board (MTB) inaugurated the
33rd annual TianguisTuristicoon Sunday, April 13th,
2008.
A ceremony at Mundo
Imperial in Acapulco?s newest convention center in Guerrero, launched activities
for this event, which is considered the most important tourism promotional
platform in Latin America and the 7th
largest in the world.
During this 33rd annual TianguisTuristico, there was an
11 percent increase in the number of businesses exhibitors compared to last
year.This year, the show has 430 booths
and 500 business products and tourist services. In addition, 32 Mexican states
are represented including the International Mayan
World that integrates Mexico,
Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala
and Belize.
There are 436 businesses registered; 36
percent are national and 64 percent are international, originating from 28
countries:Germany, Argentina,
Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Korea, Spain, United
States, France, Guatemala, Italy, Japan, Portugal, Puerto Rico, United Kingdom,
Czech Republic, Russia, Switzerland, South Africa and Venezuela, representing 16
percent more than last year.
As for buyers, there are 976 buyers
registered, 58 percent are international and 42 percent national. There are also 21,000 pre-established
appointments (13 percent more than last year).
Since opening 33 years ago, the TianguisTuristico has been a
unique platform of business for the commercialization of products and tourist
services, and year after year the number of buyers and exhibitors has increased.
Twelve emerging markets were invited, five
from China and seven from Russia.The Tianguis program
consists of conferences and forums that will be conducted beginning on Monday,
April 14th in the International Center Acapulco, providing tourism industry
members with important information.
Today, the Secretary of Tourism, Rodolfo Elizondo Torres headed a discussion forum "Tendencies
of the American Market," which included the participation of international
panelists and specialists in the American market.Tuesday, André Vallerand,
President of Tourism Destinations of the World Organization, will undertake the
theme "World Launch of the System of Excellence Measurement of Destinations."
Wednesday a closing ceremony will be conducted
for the 33rd annual TianguisTuristico.
